Newly elected Kidsgrove Town Council Mayor, Jonathan Gullis has named two charities he will be supporting during his year in office.
Personally Speaking.... by Jonathan Gullis
Service is a calling—one rooted in duty, sacrifice, and love for others.
As Mayor of Kidsgrove Parish, I have chosen ‘service’ as the theme for my term, because I believe that a society is strongest when its people serve one another in whatever way they can.
The two charities I have chosen to support reflect the very best of that calling.
Tri Services & Veterans Support’s ‘Operation R&R’, based in Harriseahead, offers a lifeline to veterans and serving personnel through outdoor retreats that provide rest, recovery, and reconnection for those who have given so much in service to our country—often at great personal cost.
COPS (Care of Police Survivors) walks alongside the families of police officers and staff who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. They offer peer support and practical assistance tailored to each family’s needs, ensuring survivors are not left alone to grieve and rebuild. Their compassionate work reminds us that behind every uniform is a family, and behind every act of service, a community that must never forget.
In John 15:13, we are reminded that “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
These charities honour that love and sacrifice. I am deeply proud to support them both, and I hope the community will join me in future fundraising efforts in giving back to those who have given everything for us.
