Zebra crossings are to be installed outside two schools, which are located on busy roads, thanks to Blurton Ward Councillor Lorraine Beardmore. The new zebra crossings will be located outside of Sutherland Primary Academy and Ormiston Sir Stanley Matthews Academy.
Ward councillor Lorraine Beardmore told Stoke-on-Trent Live "I am pleased to be able to update residents that I have secured two zebra crossings for Beaconsfield Drive. The zebra crossings will be located outside Sutherland Primary Academy and OSSMA. The safety of those crossing this road outside the schools at drop-off and pick-up times has been one of the biggest complaints that I have received from residents since I was elected. After many years of campaigning for this and the relevant traffic assessments to support my request, I am pleased to confirm that both schools will benefit from zebra crossings."
Councillor Beardmore added: "Cars park inconsiderately. They do not park safely. It is only a matter of time before someone is injured. I am hoping children will use the crossings and cars will park more considerately and be more cautious."
Work on the new zebra crossings is expected to take place during the school summer holidays.
